Jinxx — stage name of Jeremy Ferguson — is Black Veil Brides' guitarist and the member who brings to the band a training the genre rarely has: he studied violin from childhood, with a classical grounding. That detail is not decorative. Jinxx plays violin on Black Veil Brides' records and writes string arrangements for the repertoire, which gives the band a resource other groups in the circuit have to hire in or simulate with keyboards. On a record like Wretched and Divine: The Story of the Wild Ones (2013), a concept album with narrative structure, that kind of arrangement is what sustains the project's ambition. As a guitarist he forms with Jake Pitts the pair that defines the group's sound: lines harmonised in thirds, riffs of melodic cut and solos built on the harmony — a vocabulary inherited from traditional heavy metal and 1980s glam metal, applied to contemporary song structures. He has been in the band since the phase preceding its national reach, and is one of the elements that guaranteed musical continuity while Black Veil Brides was discussed above all for its image.
