Jörg Fischer

Jörg Fischer was Accept's guitarist during the band's classic phase, with intermittent spells across the 1980s. Born in 1957, he formed with Wolf Hoffmann the guitar pairing of the records that established the group. He is on Breaker (1981) and Restless and Wild (1982) — the latter containing "Fast as a Shark", a track often cited as one of the first to anticipate speed metal — and returned later for the period of Metal Heart (1985) and Russian Roulette (1986). His function was rhythm guitar and harmony, holding the structure while Hoffmann led the melodic lines and the adaptations of classical themes. He left the band for good at the end of the 1980s, closing his part in the line-up that took Accept international.
