Orion — born in Poland in 1980, given name Tomasz Wróblewski — has been Behemoth's bassist since 2003, and also its backing vocalist. His entry coincides with the phase in which the band stopped being a name of the Polish underground and began circulating internationally. He recorded Demigod (2005), The Apostasy (2007), Evangelion (2009), The Satanist (2014) and the records that followed — that is, the whole period in which Behemoth became a worldwide reference in extreme metal. His function in that repertoire is more exposed than in ordinary death metal. Behemoth builds tracks on simultaneous layers — tremolo guitars, continuous blast beats, choirs and orchestrations — and the bass is what keeps that mass from losing definition. In passages of extreme speed, it is the bass line that keeps the harmonic reference audible when everything else dissolves into noise. With more than twenty years in the band, he forms with Nergal and Inferno the core that sustained Behemoth throughout its most recognised phase.
