Patrick Graue

Patrick Graue — Brazilian guitarist — was part of Delpht, a power metal band formed in the late 1990s. Delpht belongs to the generation that came after Angra, at a moment when Brazilian metal had an audience but no label structure to sustain careers. Screams of Ice (2000) and Living in Fantasy (2005) were made under those conditions — independent production, costs paid by the musicians themselves, distribution of limited reach. The repertoire follows the European melodic power metal standard: fast guitars with harmonies in thirds, solos built as themes and wide choruses. Playing that well demands right-hand technique and rhythmic precision that take years to develop, and most guitarists in that scene learned on their own, without teachers or easy access to teaching material. Delpht did not continue after 2007. But it is part of the fabric of the 2000s Brazilian scene — the dozens of bands that kept the genre alive in the country between Angra's records and the following generation.
