Philip Shouse has been Accept's guitarist since 2019, when the group began operating with three guitars — an unusual arrangement that considerably widens the harmonic possibilities of a repertoire already built on layered guitars. Born in the United States in 1970, he came to Accept after working with Gene Simmons in his solo band, and his arrival is part of the reshaping that also brought in bassist Martin Motnik. His function is to reinforce the sonic thickness and to let Wolf Hoffmann's adaptations of classical themes be performed live with all their voices — something that, with only two guitars, required simplification. He recorded Too Mean to Die (2021) and Humanoid (2024).
