Pontus Egberg has been King Diamond's bassist since 2014. Born in Sweden in 1971, he came to the group already with a long road behind him in Scandinavian hard rock and melodic metal, having passed through bands such as Lion's Share and The Poodles. His arrival coincides with the band's return to the stage after the singer's heart surgery, in a period when the live repertoire began to run through the different phases of the discography — from Abigail to the records of the 2000s. That asks something specific of a bassist: reproducing faithfully lines recorded by different musicians across three decades, while holding together a show that is, by design, narrative before it is musical.
