Thiago Melo

Brazil

Thiago Melo — Brazilian guitarist — is part of Dr. Sin's current line-up, alongside brothers Ivan and Andria Busic. He takes on one of the most demanding positions in Brazilian heavy rock. Dr. Sin built its reputation in 1991 on a standard of execution that barely existed in the national scene at the time — the precision of studio musicians in a largely amateur circuit — and the guitar was always the foreground of that formula, with Eduardo Ardanuy's vocabulary serving as a reference for a whole generation of the country's players. The catalogue he has to perform spans more than thirty years and eight albums, from Dr. Sin (1993) to Back Home Again (2021), written within an American hard rock tradition in which the song has a direct structure but opens wide room for soloing — a format in which the guitarist cannot hide. His entry is part of Dr. Sin's resumption from 2018 onwards, after the end of the classic line-up that lasted from 1991 to 2016.
