Tom Draper

Tom Draper has been Carcass's guitarist since 2018, part of the line-up the band keeps active in its recent touring and recording. His function is to share the guitars with Bill Steer, the group's founder, in a repertoire that crosses radically different phases: from the practically shapeless tracks of Reek of Putrefaction (1988) to the harmonies in thirds and structured solos of Heartwork (1993) and the later records. Playing that arc live means moving between languages that barely speak to one another. He took part in the recording of Torn Arteries (2021), the group's most recent album, and comes from the British heavy metal scene, having worked in other bands in the country before joining Carcass.
