Willie Adler — born in the United States in 1976 — has been Lamb of God's guitarist since 1999, forming with Mark Morton the pair that defines the band's sound. That two-guitar architecture is what distinguishes Lamb of God's groove metal: the lines do not merely double in unison but interlock in rhythmic counterpoint, one guitar holding the syncopated riff while the other displaces accents or lays dissonant harmony over it. It is a format demanding exact understanding, and the two have worked together for more than twenty-five years. He joined shortly after the founding, when the band was still called Burn the Priest, and recorded the entire discography from New American Gospel (2000) onwards — including Ashes of the Wake (2004), Sacrament (2006), Wrath (2009) and the records that followed. He is the brother of Chris Adler, the band's founding drummer, which made Lamb of God for two decades a group structured around two brothers in distinct roles — an arrangement that survived even Chris's departure in 2019.
