Daniel Firth

Daniel Firth — Cradle of Filth's bassist since 2012 — is, alongside drummer Marthus, one of the longest-standing elements in the band's current line-up. He came in for The Manticore and Other Horrors (2012) and has since recorded Hammer of the Witches (2015), Cryptoriana (2017), Existence Is Futile (2021) and The Screaming of the Valkyries (2025) — more than a decade in a group whose turnover is well known, and whose only permanent member is Dani Filth. His function in the repertoire is to hold the harmonic floor beneath layers that occupy almost the whole spectrum: tremolo guitars, symphonic keyboards, choirs and Filth's high voice. In passages of continuous blast beat, it is the bass line that keeps the tonal reference audible — work noticed only in its absence. He comes from Chrome Division, the Norwegian hard rock band founded by Dimmu Borgir's Shagrath — a path linking him to the same Scandinavian extreme metal circuit in which Cradle of Filth has always moved.
