Daniel Guirado

Brazil

Daniel Guirado — Brazilian bassist and vocalist — belongs to the fixed core of Soulspell, the metal opera created by drummer and composer Heleno Vale. Soulspell works differently from an ordinary band. Each record is a narrative act with a renewed vocal cast, gathering Brazilian and foreign guests to play characters. But behind that rotating cast there is a stable core of musicians performing the material — and that is where Guirado sits. The function is twofold and specific: to hold down the bass in compositions that must serve voices very different from one another, and at the same time to contribute vocals. In a project where the singers change from track to track, sonic coherence depends precisely on the instrumentalists who stay. Soulspell has five acts, from A Legacy of Honor (2008) to Act V — Spirits of Ghosts (2025). Carrying a concept project of that size for nearly two decades, in Brazil, is collective work — and the fixed core is its least visible part.
