Eduardo Ardanuy

Edu Ardanuy became a reference for Brazilian guitar by combining high-level technique, melodic sense and the musculature of classic hard rock. After stints in A Chave do Sol, Anjos da Noite and the bands of Supla and Eduardo Araújo, he founded Dr. Sin with Andria and Ivan Busic in the early 1990s. The trio gained prominence with a sound that brought together hard rock, heavy metal and progressive rock, touring major festivals and sharing stages with names such as AC/DC, Dream Theater, Mr. Big, Steve Vai and Joe Satriani. In Dr. Sin, Ardanuy developed a guitar marked by solid riffs, fluid improvisation and technically sophisticated solos, but always linked to the structure of the songs. His performance has garnered recurring recognition from the specialized press, including election among the ten best Brazilian guitarists by Guitar Player Brasil and multiple awards from Cover Guitarra magazine. He also explored the instrumental repertoire on Tritone and on the solo album Electric Nightmare, expanding a work that was never restricted to the power trio format. After leaving Dr. Sin, he continued as a solo musician, teacher and member of Sinistra, a band formed with Nando Fernandes and later completed by Luis Mariutti and Rafael Rosa. The group's self-titled album, released in 2022, presented a denser, heavier approach and sung in Portuguese. Ardanuy belongs to a generation in which virtuosity still needed to produce riffs and songs, not just slow-motion videos.
