Francesco Ferraro — bassist — has been Freedom Call's bassist since 2019, part of the German band's current line-up. Freedom Call is a case of rare longevity in power metal: founded in 1998 by Chris Bay, it reached eleven records and more than 25 years of activity keeping its formula practically unchanged — choral refrains, major harmonies and an optimistic tone the band humorously christened "happy metal". Joining a band with that history means taking on two and a half decades of repertoire the audience knows by heart. Live, Freedom Call depends on precise execution and on vocal participation from the whole band: the chorus-sung refrains are the group's trademark, and reproducing them on stage requires the instrumentalists to sing as much as they play. Ferraro is in the line-up from M.E.T.A.L. (2019) onwards, including Silver Romance (2024), the most recent record. It is the phase in which the band, with a renewed line-up, went on producing new material rather than living off the catalogue — which sets Freedom Call apart from many of its contemporaries.
