Martin Motnik has been Accept's bassist since 2019, when he took the place left by Peter Baltes after more than forty years in the band — one of the hardest successions the group has ever faced. Born in Germany in 1972, he arrived with a career built outside the traditional metal circuit: he developed work as a session bassist and as a teacher, with published instructional material and work in musical contexts quite distinct from one another. That versatility is what qualifies him for a repertoire spanning five decades and several styles within the band's own discography. His function in Accept is direct support without ornament, beneath heavy riffs and broad choruses. He recorded Too Mean to Die (2021) and Humanoid (2024), and is part of the current line-up alongside Wolf Hoffmann, Mark Tornillo, Christopher Williams and Philip Shouse.
