Tito Falaschi

Tito Falaschi — multi-instrumentalist, producer and co-founder of Symbols — is Edu Falaschi's brother and a permanent figure behind the scenes of Brazilian metal. Symbols was born in São Paulo in the late 1990s as the two brothers' project, and it is where the Edu Falaschi who would take over Angra's vocals in 2001 came from. Before that, though, Symbols was already a band in its own right, with three records — Symbols (1998), Call to the End (2000) and Faces (2004) — and a repertoire of melodic metal with a strong progressive component, sung in English, at a moment when Brazil was producing a whole generation of bands in the genre. Tito combined bass and vocals, and his greater contribution is structural: keeping an independent band running in São Paulo, recording on its own terms, demanded as much production work as writing. After Symbols he continued as a producer and musician, taking part in work tied to his brother's career. It is the kind of trajectory that rarely appears on album covers, but without which much of the Brazilian scene would not have existed.
