Hibria is a Brazilian heavy/power metal band formed in 1996 in Porto Alegre. Built around founding guitarist Abel Camargo, the group emerged with a sound rooted in Iron Maiden, Judas Priest and Helloween, distinguished by aggressive riffing and a technical, high-velocity edge. Vocalist Iuri Sanson joined in 1997. Their debut, "Defying the Rules" (2004), became a landmark of modern Brazilian metal, a cult favourite and a genuine commercial success in Japan, positioning Hibria alongside Angra and Shaman as a Brazilian act with real international reach. "The Skull Collectors" (2008), "Blind Ride" (2011) and "Silent Revenge" (2013) followed. In December 2017 most of the classic lineup departed, leaving Camargo to rebuild. "Moving Ground" (2018) closed the classic era, and "Me7amorphosis" (2022) introduced an almost entirely new cast. Hibria remains active, unveiling another new lineup in 2025 and announcing a reunion appearance with Sanson and Osorio at Full Metal Japan.
