Children of Bodom was a Finnish melodic death metal band formed in Espoo in 1993 by guitarist/vocalist Alexi "Wildchild" Laiho and drummer Jaska Raatikainen. Their 1997 debut, Something Wild, fused death metal with keyboard-driven melody. Follow the Reaper (2000) and Hate Crew Deathroll (2003) brought international attention. Are You Dead Yet? (2005) became their commercial peak. The band continued through Blooddrunk (2008), Relentless Reckless Forever (2011), Halo of Blood (2013), and I Worship Chaos (2015), before their tenth and final album, Hexed (2019). The band announced its breakup in October 2019, playing a farewell show in Helsinki that December. Laiho went on to form Bodom After Midnight but passed away in December 2020 at age 41, remembered as one of metal's most influential guitarists.
