ReVamp

ReVamp was created by Floor Jansen in 2009, shortly after the end of After Forever, as a deliberate resumption of his trajectory in metal. The debut album, *ReVamp* (2010), combined symphonic metal, progressive structures, heavy guitars and Floor's vocal range, which transitioned between lyrical singing, a raspy voice and gutturals. Initially conceived with guest composers and producers, the project soon gained its own formation and band identity. *Wild Card*, released in 2013, presented a more cohesive, modern and aggressive group. With compositions developed by Floor, Jord Otto, Ruben Wijga and Joost van den Broek, the album explored psychological tension, exhaustion and emotional instability, especially in the sequence “The Anatomy of a Nervous Breakdown”. The participation of Devin Townsend and Mark Jansen reinforced a dense work, in which vocal versatility did not function as a display, but as part of the narrative. Floor's entry into Nightwish, initially on tour and then as an official member, made it impossible to maintain both bands with the same dedication. ReVamp ended its activities in 2016, leaving only two albums, but a well-defined identity: heavier and more direct than After Forever, less orchestral than Nightwish and built to explore the full range of its vocalist. His career was short, not inconclusive.
