I Prevail

I Prevail formed in late 2013 in Southfield, Michigan, when guitarist Steve Menoian and vocalist Eric Vanlerberghe began working together, soon joined by clean vocalist Brian Burkheiser, guitarist Jordan Berger and drummer Lee Runestad. The band's breakout moment came in December 2014 with a metalcore cover of Taylor Swift's "Blank Space", which went viral, charted on the Billboard Hot 100 and was certified platinum. That success established the band's trademark: dual vocals, combining Burkheiser's melodic singing with Vanlerberghe's aggressive screams over heavy metalcore riffing. The debut album Lifelines (2016) was certified gold, and Trauma (2019) earned two Grammy nominations and topped rock charts. With True Power (2022) the band expanded into electronic, pop and hip-hop-influenced territory while keeping the heavy core. In May 2025, founding clean vocalist Brian Burkheiser left the band, with Vanlerberghe taking over as sole lead vocalist and touring guitarist Dylan Bowman contributing additional vocals. Later in 2025 the band released Violent Nature, a self-produced record that is notably heavier and darker. Now on their fifth studio album, I Prevail remain one of the most commercially successful acts in modern metalcore.
