Escape the Fate formed in 2004 in Las Vegas, Nevada, founded by vocalist Ronnie Radke, bassist Max Green and guitarist Monte Money. The debut album Dying Is Your Latest Fashion (2006) established the band as one of the leading names of the mid-2000s post-hardcore/metalcore scene, mixing screamed verses with melodic choruses. In late 2008 Radke was dismissed following legal trouble stemming from a 2006 incident that resulted in a voluntary manslaughter conviction; he went on to found Falling in Reverse. He was replaced by Craig Mabbitt, formerly of Blessthefall, whose more melodic and commercial vocal style reshaped the band's sound from This War Is Ours (2008) onward. Subsequent records, including the self-titled Escape the Fate (2010), Ungrateful (2013), Hate Me (2015), I Am Human (2018), Chemical Warfare (2021) and Out of the Shadows (2023), pushed the band further toward hard rock and alternative metal with glam touches, while keeping occasional heavier moments. Despite many lineup changes — with drummer Robert Ortiz as the only remaining founding member — Escape the Fate have remained a consistent touring act, headlining festivals and rock cruises, and are recognised as one of the most commercially durable acts from the 2000s Las Vegas scene.
